We wanted a small group experience, but ended up with a private tour with Pétur (note we booked this trip a few weeks in advance). He suggested a trip to Landmannalaugar. While that is a popular destination with hot springs and beautiful scenery, the scenery along the drive is equally, if not more, spectacular. One of the highlights was a hike up to Ljótipollur aka Ugly Pond. It was far from ugly! Note that the order of photos is a bit scrambled the way they uploaded to TA.

Getting back to Pétur, he's an awesome guide, great pride in his country, great knowledge of wherever you would like him to take you, good conversationalist, including covering contemporary Icelandic music during the drive! Pick your trip, from his list or suggest your own, and have a great day!

From our hotel pickup to drop off he packed in what can only be described as the most outstanding and awe inspiring sights. His attention to detail was excellent, his Land Cruiser was new and spotless, and he provided us with an unobtrusive description of sights and views without being too chatty or too in our faces. Both our 17 year old daughter and 12 year old son said it was the best day of our holiday to Iceland and my wife and I agreed. I cannot recommend a trip with Peter enough, you won’t be disappointed!!!
