Petur collected us from the overnight flight and organized breakfast so we could regroup and head directly to the Fagradalsfjall volcano to observe the eruption. We hiked up and had a perfect vantage point to watch the flow of lava. Petur took us on tours to the Golden Circle, the Husafell area and a super fun morning of fishing near Reykjavik. Petur was helpful on all the details of our trip - finding a guide in the Akureyri area, the perfect hotel on the south coast, getting a covid test in Reykjavik, the list goes on!

We wanted a small group experience, but ended up with a private tour with Pétur (note we booked this trip a few weeks in advance). He suggested a trip to Landmannalaugar. While that is a popular destination with hot springs and beautiful scenery, the scenery along the drive is equally, if not more, spectacular. One of the highlights was a hike up to Ljótipollur aka Ugly Pond. It was far from ugly! Note that the order of photos is a bit scrambled the way they uploaded to TA. Getting back to Pétur, he's an awesome guide, great pride in his country, great knowledge of wherever you would like him to take you, good conversationalist, including covering contemporary Icelandic music during the drive!
