We wanted a small group experience, but ended up with a private tour with Pétur (note we booked this trip a few weeks in advance). He suggested a trip to Landmannalaugar. While that is a popular destination with hot springs and beautiful scenery, the scenery along the drive is equally, if not more, spectacular. One of the highlights was a hike up to Ljótipollur aka Ugly Pond. It was far from ugly! Note that the order of photos is a bit scrambled the way they uploaded to TA.

Petur collected us from the overnight flight and organized breakfast so we could regroup and head directly to the Fagradalsfjall volcano to observe the eruption. We hiked up and had a perfect vantage point to watch the flow of lava. Petur took us on tours to the Golden Circle, the Husafell area and a super fun morning of fishing near Reykjavik. Petur was helpful on all the details of our trip - finding a guide in the Akureyri area, the perfect hotel on the south coast, getting a covid test in Reykjavik, the list goes on!

Petur collected us from our hotel in Reykjavik and drove us to the volcano location. Such a pleasant and knowledgeable person and so easy to listen to - throughout the journey he spoke with interest and has an obvious passion for both what he is doing and his love of Iceland. The hike itself was quite tough - the terrain was difficult and the weather at times was very harsh with driving rain and gusty winds - it was an evening/night trip which added to the difficulty. Throughout the hike Petur was attentive to both weather and volcano conditions and also our well being making sure we were always ok with safety paramount at all times. He made sure we got the best possible experience under the difficult conditions rewarding us with great photo and video opportunities for a ‘once in a lifetime’ truly awesome sight. Petur is someone who knows what he is doing and you can rely on his knowledge and expertise. A fantastic guide who provides a great experience. We can highly recommend him and his company and would not hesitate to book with him again.
